 In Campaign News

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner has published the latest Not In Our Community (NIOC) report as part of an ongoing commitment to raising awareness in grooming and exploitation of young people and across our communities.

Alongside our successful social media campaign, we produce resources and stories based on real life events that can be used across personal, educational and professional settings, to raise awareness across communities and help protect our young people.

The latest NIOC report covers our work across the last 6 months. View the 6 Month Report – HERE. Throughout this time, the Not In Our Community campaign has won highly acclaimed awards, seen the launch of fresh innovative resources along also with some further notable achievements;

Partnerships – The campaign has both built upon existing partnerships and also started new ones. Our partnerships are vital for empowering communities and driving meaningful and lasting change and is an area we are keen to continue building over the coming months.

Accessibility and reach – With focus continuing on raising awareness directly amongst young people, by tailoring its messages, resources and tools, the campaign has found new ways to increase its reach out for parents, teachers and youth engagement professionals.

And we’ve more to come! – Throughout lockdown we’ve partnered, we’ve collaborated… and we’ve developed some exciting new resources.

From a new hard-hitting short film, to a music video, to an animation for young people, to an interactive ‘choose what happens next’ film, to the launch of a new interactive e-learning platform – join us next week as we embark on our journey of #5in5 that will see a new, uniquely different resource launched every week for 5 weeks.

The Police and Crime Commissioner for Humberside Jonathan Evison said “I’m a strong believer in early intervention; providing young people and communities the tools to protect themselves. “Not In Our Community works closely with young people and with partners to develop strong campaign messages and impactful innovative resource to raise awareness of child exploitation, both criminal and sexual.

“Not In Our Community is a campaign for everyone – young people, teachers, parents, professionals – I encourage all across communities to explore this local resource and help us to share. Education is power, prevention is key”.
